**This exercise is made merely to satisfy the eagerness I have to make staff. It may not full fill the fab lab standard.**
Even if the machines for our lab are not yet here, I decided to work on the 'make something big' exercise with the available materials and equipments we have. And this is until the machines come and I will replace it with a new additional exercise for this topic.
As in my semester project proposal A( my first proposal) , I used the four-bar mechanism to design the 'make something big' exercise. The object I selected to produce is a four bar stand, particularly for LCDs and projectors.
Objects like LCDs or beamers are best placed on a specific location in space to have them projecting on different surfaces. Such functions require a flexible stand that would provide top plane at various heights. we would also want to move them horizontally.
Mechanism:
To design and construct this stand I used a simple mechanical system called four-bar mechanism. All the bars are made of a three to four centimeter diameter bamboo pipes connected with another bamboo details. The four bar mechanism is connected to:
. a top plane (a part that provides working surface , place objects)
. a wheeled base component (a part that has four wheels that would let the four bar move horizontaly. This part also has a stopper to control to control the vertical height change of the mechanism.)
The fallowing are pictures and drawings of the four bar stand showing different views
